French Onion Soup

6 medium onions

2 tbsp. butter or margarine

tsp. salt

dash pepper

4 cups water mixed with beef boullion cubes

Shredded cheese

Bread toasted and cut into cubes

 

          Peel onions and cut into thin slices

          Brown onion lightly in margarine

          Add stock and seasonings

          Simmer until onions are tender

          Place in an oven proof bowl

          Top with bread cubes and cheese

          Broil until cheese is golden

 

Recipe can be halved or doubled depending on desired servings.
