French Onion Soup

6 medium onions

2 tbsp. butter or margarine

½ tsp. salt

dash pepper

4 cups water mixed with beef boullion cubes

Shredded cheese

Bread – toasted and cut into cubes

 

·          Peel onions and cut into thin slices

·          Brown onion lightly in margarine

·          Add stock and seasonings

·          Simmer until onions are tender

·          Place in an oven proof bowl

·          Top with bread cubes and cheese

·          Broil until cheese is golden

 

Recipe can be halved or doubled depending on desired servings.
